In this course, we take Archicad’s Properties and Classifications even further with ‘Expression-Defined Properties’ (mathematical functions and operations).

Expression-Defined Properties can create new information for calculations, quantification, data formatting, standardizing element parameters, checking data and model compliance, or even providing visual feedback with Graphic Overrides.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, you will:

  • How to leverage the “I” in BIM to meet project-specific data requirements for internal use or collaboration
  • Learn how to leverage the benefits of using Expression-Defined Properties for model accuracy, scheduling, and documentation.
  • Learn how to create custom Expression-Defined Properties from scratch.
  • Learn how to evaluate Expression-Defined Properties and fix formula errors.
  • Learn how to apply Expression-Defined Properties in Documentation, Area Calculation, Model Standardization, Design Compliance / Quality Assurance, and Quantification.

Target Audience

This course is for new users who have taken the Properties and Schedules course, or for current Archicad users who are looking to enhance their skills. 

Quizzes and Tests

You will have access to a related quiz upon completing the relevant content, and you will also have the opportunity to retake them before completing the course. To earn points towards your AIA LUs, achieve a minimum score of 80% on the quiz and complete the satisfaction survey.

Software Requirements

The exercise file in this course has been created using the USA language version of Archicad 25 which means that the work environment and some of the content may be different if you are using a different language version. 

Recommended Learning

We recommend you complete the following courses in order to be able to actively follow the trainer's presentation and demonstrations in Archicad:

  • Properties and Schedules

Access Time Frame

You can access the course materials for 6 months, counting from the first login to the course. Within this time, you can access the course's assessments, download the exercise files and handouts or watch the recordings. After this, you will be deactivated from the course and will not be able to access any course materials.

Awards

Completing the course material, including the quiz with a minimum score of 80% achievement and filling out the satisfaction survey, will award you points towards achieving 2 points towards your AIA LUs and a Certificate of Attendance in issues automatically in PDF format.
